The development marks a notable turn in Somalia’s political and security landscape, with in a statement, the ministry said it was closely monitoring the violence and expressed deep concern over the recent clashes between rival clans, which it said had resulted in loss of life, injuries, property destruction and large-scale displacement of civilians over the past two days.

The ministry condemned what it described as unlawful attacks that run contrary to Islamic principles and Somalia’s traditional values, urging all parties involved to halt hostilities and prevent further suffering among local communities. Authorities also warned that legal action would be taken against individuals using social media platforms to spread inflammatory content or messages that could incite further violence and deepen social divisions.

The appeal comes amid renewed concerns over localized clan conflicts in parts of central Somalia, where disputes over land, resources and local grievances have periodically triggered violence despite broader efforts by federal and regional authorities to strengthen stability and reconciliation. The ministry called on traditional elders, religious leaders, women, youth representatives, community figures and officials from the regional state of Hirshabelle to play an active role in mediating the conflict, promoting peaceful coexistence and supporting efforts to reach a lasting settlement.

The government said restoring peace and preventing further displacement remained a priority, while urging communities to resolve disputes through dialogue and established reconciliation mechanisms. The ministry extended its condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the clashes.

The episode underscores the continuing pressure on Somali institutions as the federal government and regional authorities seek to balance security operations with political stability and public confidence.
