According to a statement issued by the Somali Police Force, the suspect was apprehended at a facility he operates under the name “Raaliyo School.” Police said the suspect made comments linking the acquisition of girls to the purchase of a house, though the exact wording of the remarks has not been independently verified.
Authorities described the comments as contrary to societal values and an affront to the dignity, honor and respect of Somali women. The suspect is currently in police custody and is undergoing preliminary investigations.
Police said that upon completion of the investigation, the case will be forwarded to the competent court for legal proceedings. In the same statement, the Banadir Police Command cautioned individuals and groups pursuing personal interests under the guise of defending women’s rights against spreading misinformation, accusations or misleading statements that undermine public confidence in security institutions and damage their reputation.
The police urged all parties to exercise responsibility and refrain from actions that could mislead the public or erode trust in state institutions.
The episode underscores the continuing pressure on Somali institutions as the federal government and regional authorities seek to balance security operations with political stability and public confidence.
